Excavation, shotcrete infill – Biology Centre University Vienna (AT)

Description

The excavation stabilisation made with discontinuous bored pile walls with shotcrete infilling for the new Biology Centre for the University of Vienna. The originally planned reinforcement for infilling was AQ 65 steel mesh (332 mm²/m), which was totally replaced by using macro fiber reinforced shotcrete.

• No laborious mounting of steel meshes, lower logistic costs, shorter construction time
• Less concrete consumption, because no covering of steel necessary
• Much better carbon footprint, less CO₂ because of no steel and less concrete
